Halloween Cultural Appropriation Campaign

Social Media, Digital Signage

OVERVIEW

While Halloween is a fun holiday to let your creativity shine, it’s important to be cognizant of the impact your costume could have on other individuals and their cultures. Leading up to Halloween, Ohio State wanted to create materials that could educate students on cultural appropriation in relation to Halloween costumes.

SOLUTION

Our solution was to create a campaign that would be primarily pushed out on social media, with digital signage across campus as a secondary deliverable. The campaign would include educational messaging that encouraged students to stop and think about if their costume was offensive or not. In addition, a checklist would be provided for students so they could go through the list and assess their costume.
